1 Dress 2 Ways

I partnered with LaShoundra from Young At Style to style the same dress coat. LaShoundra joined Janelle and me for our Slay in the Spirit NYFW trip. Over the course of the trip I became friends with her and her business partner Dawn, amazing women of God and business women. Anywho, we ended up going to the SheIn pop-up shop in SoHo. We both liked the same dress coat and decided to bring you all this post.

Color… Ism

Raven Roberts Colorism
Light skin,
Brown skin,
Dark skin,
My skin. 

Her words like an echo
Like they were ripples in water
“I’d never have pictures of my niece and nephew if they were dark skin. dark skin. DARK. SKIN.”

She goes on…

“We tease my grandmother for bringing the darkness in our family.”

The darkness? Whose darkness?

The darkness of her grandfather.

Going Natural!!!

A few years ago I wrote a blog post on going natural, specialty transitioning. I decided to update that post and make it an e-book, Starter Guide to a Healthy Natural Hair Journey. Here’s the first section of the e-book.


  • Transitioning – This is gradually taking your hair from relaxed to natural by letting your hair grow out and trimming off the relaxed ends until there’s none left. This route will be the main focus of this e-book.
  • Big Chop – cutting off all your relaxed hair at one time. You can cut if off shortly after you decide to go natural or grow your hair to a certain point then cut it. Continue reading Going Natural!!!

Trusting God

This year God has pushed me all the way out of my comfort zone to trust Him FULLY. Like not with just the small stuff, not just once in a while but like every second of the day and with BIG STUFF, like my rent. Most of you may be like “How are you not trusting Him to get your rent?” Well I’m a freelancer and up until the end of last year I had a part-time job that fully covered my rent. When my hours were cut significantly, my trust and faith were tested.
